Growing Awareness
Hi, I’m Cora
I’m a medical herbalist offering person-centred, whole-person healthcare.
Consultations cover your history, your current challenges, and your priorities.
Herbal medicine can be adapted to many different health states and, with the support of a clinical herbalist, can be used safely alongside many other treatments.
Consultations are collaborative and focused on developing a cohesive strategy.
I’m very aware of the stress placed on patients nowadays, as healthcare provision has become compartmentalised between specialists who struggle to communicate with each other.
I work to create continuity and better communication in your support network.
We can explore the wider context of your life such as food, daily rhythms, lifeway, and the demands placed on you (only as much as feels relevant and welcome to you).
My aim is to reduce pressure, strengthen resilience, and address root causes while also easing symptoms.
If you’re unsure whether herbal medicine is suitable for you, feel free to get in touch.
Here is more information about my approach.
If you’re ready to begin, you can book an initial consultation below.
What To Expect
When you register for an initial consultation there’s a short form to fill out. you can add as much or as little info as you’d like.
This helps me prepare beforehand so we can make the most of the consultation.
My approach integrates traditional herbal knowledge with modern clinical assessment.
An initial consultation lasts an hour and covers:
your medical history,
a full review of your current health,
what your main priorities and goals are for your health,
diet and life information (unless you ask not to discuss these),
any medications you’re currently taking so I can ensure no contraindications between them and the herbs I suggest (herbs can in-fact support other treatments),
and any other treatments or modalities you have questions about.
I try to be as thorough as possible because, as Hippocrates once said,
It’s more important to know what person a disease has than the other way around.
This is especially true within herbalism, where we aim to treat the whole person rather than just symptoms, individual organs, or abstract disease categories.
After the first consultation I’ll send:
an email with a recap of everything we discussed,
my suggestion for a strategy to take,
my suggestions for herbs. I’ll detail the herbal prescription in full so you can source it yourself if you wish. Most prescriptions I recommend are a tincture at £32 for 2 weeks supply if you buy from me.
I might suggest teas, creams, bathing herbs, vinegars, and a variety of other things but we’ll discuss these to make sure they’re easy for you to take.
If you’d rather a different formulation then please do ask. Some people like to grow or forage their own medicine, which I can also give guidance on.
Most people require a few shorter follow up consultations every 2 weeks so that:
any unpleasant or harmful symptoms are dealt with thoroughly
the prescription can be honed to fit you perfectly
we can settle on a long-term prescription to tackle the root cause once the superficial symptom issues have subsided.
I focus on treating the root cause and building vitality, however, symptom management is also important. I know there’s a school of thought that symptoms are the body’s intelligence dealing with an illness but I think there’s nuance to this idea. Unchecked symptoms are debilitating, unpleasant, and can cause other issues. Some symptoms are the body’s own intelligence addressing the problem (such as a moderate fever during flu in an otherwise robust person) but many are just negative consequences or too much for someone depleted to handle, especially in long-term illness.
Time estimates vary depending on how you respond, how complicated the case is, and which herbs we decide to include. I can give you a better estimate of what to expect after your first consultation.
Once you’ve had regular bi-weekly consultations and your condition has settled, you’ll likely want to:
continue with a repeat prescription and only book consultations as needed,
or take a low dose maintenance tincture until you’re really robust and well.
I take a very collaborative approach because (although I know herbs, anatomy, physiology, illness, and prescribing) people are the experts on themselves.
Additional background reading is provided for those who like to understand their condition and develop self-care knowledge.
I also recognise that lots of information and decisions can be overwhelming. My first goal with anyone unwell is to take pressure off. I’m happy to provide simple support if that’s what you need.
